Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck helps to reshape the abdominal area when the skin and tissues have lost their elasticity and no longer respond to exercise or weight changes.

During the procedure, excess skin is removed and, if necessary, the rectus abdominis muscles are repositioned to restore a firmer and smoother abdominal wall. This procedure is often recommended after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

The result is a well-proportioned midsection that blends naturally with the rest of the body.

About the procedure

You are a good candidate for the procedure if you have

  • excess skin and fat on your abdomen following significant weight loss or pregnancy
  • significant weight loss has caused skin laxity
  • fat tissue accumulated on the front wall of the abdomen
  • diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles)
  • poor skin quality and stretch marks in the lower abdomen

Preparing for the procedure

  • Have blood tests done, and if you are over 50 years old, you must also have an electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • To achieve the best results, stabilize your weight before surgery
  • Before the procedure, the doctor will mark the incision sites on your skin with a marker, explain the course of the surgery, and discuss the expected results

Duration of the surgery and important information

  • Abdominoplasty surgery lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia
  • During the procedure, excess skin and subcutaneous fat are removed from your abdomen, and sutures are placed on the loosened muscles. If necessary, a drain is left in the incision.

Recovery

  • After the surgery, you will generally spend one night in our comfortable clinic, where our professional staff will take care of you
  • The day after surgery, a doctor will examine you and provide recommendations for wound care, reducing swelling, and pain management. The stitches will be removed 10–14 days later
  • To achieve the best results, you must wear compression garments. Initially all the time, then only during physical activity
  • We recommend taking 1–2 weeks of sick leave to recover from tummy tuck surgery
  • You can start exercising 4–6 weeks after surgery
  • The final results are best seen approximately 6 months after surgery, once the body has fully recovered

Tummy tucks are often combined with liposuction. During the consultation, we will assess your health, determine the best surgical method, explain the location of scars and any potential complications, and if you are a suitable candidate for surgery, we can schedule your procedure right away. Our doctors are members of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), communicate in Estonian, Russian, English, and Finnish, and view your body as a unified whole, always striving to provide you with the best possible care!

Book a consultation

A consultation is the beginning of every outcome – a place where we make the first important decisions together.

During this process, you will receive a doctor’s assessment, understand your possibilities and limitations, and gain a clear overview of what kind of outcome is realistic. If necessary, this also means making a decision not to intervene, as every decision must be justified.
