Non-surgical eyelid tightening

Non-surgical eyelid tightening helps improve the tone of the skin around the eyes and soften fine lines.

The laser procedure supports skin renewal and may suit mild laxity of the upper or lower eyelids. The aim is a fresher, more rested look that stays natural and in balance with the rest of the face.

The right method depends on the condition of your eyelids. At the consultation the doctor assesses whether laser treatment can achieve the change you want, or whether surgery would give a better result.

About the procedure

The procedure may suit you if you have

  • mildly lax skin of the upper or lower eyelids
  • fine lines in the eyelid area
  • reduced elasticity of the skin around the eyes
  • a wish to improve eyelid skin tone without surgery

If there is a larger excess of skin or pronounced under-eye fat pads, non-surgical tightening may not give the result you want. The doctor helps you find a suitable solution.

Before the procedure

  • Treatment is preceded by a consultation, where the doctor assesses the eyelids and the skin around the eyes.
  • Tell the doctor about your health, any eye-related symptoms, previous procedures and the medicines you use.
  • The doctor explains how the procedure is done, the possible result and recovery.
  • A local anaesthetic is used, and the protective measures needed for treating the eye area are followed.

Duration

  • The procedure takes about 30 minutes.
  • The upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both areas can be treated.
  • Repeat procedures may be needed for the result you want. The doctor sets the length of the course and the interval between procedures.

Recovery

  • After the procedure there may be redness, swelling and skin sensitivity.
  • It is worth planning a quieter period for recovery. When you return to everyday activities depends on the extent of the procedure and how the skin heals.
  • The doctor gives instructions for cleansing and caring for the eye area and, if needed, for easing swelling.
  • During recovery, avoid strenuous exercise and protect the treated area from the sun as the doctor advises.

Skin renewal continues after the first signs have settled. The result develops gradually, and its extent and how long it lasts are individual.

Where to start?

If lax eyelid skin or a tired look bothers you, start with a consultation. You can share what you hope for, and the doctor assesses which treatment suits the skin around your eyes.

We explain what non-surgical tightening can and cannot do, and talk through recovery and whether repeat procedures may be needed. If surgery would meet your expectations better, we discuss that as well.

Book a consultation

A consultation is the beginning of every outcome – a place where we make the first important decisions together.

During this process, you will receive a doctor’s assessment, understand your possibilities and limitations, and gain a clear overview of what kind of outcome is realistic. If necessary, this also means making a decision not to intervene, as every decision must be justified.
