When is intimate area plastic surgery needed?

Most women prefer not to talk about their most intimate areas. This is a shame, however, because there is a potential solution to many problems “down there”.

Labiaplasty is certainly not a procedure that is often discussed, yet it is an operation that could benefit many women.

What is intimate area plastic surgery or labiaplasty?

This is a surgical procedure aimed at reshaping either the labia minora and majora or both. In most cases, the goal is to reduce the volume of the labia. The reasons are discomfort or embarrassment.

However, the exact surgical solution may be different for each specific patient. Sometimes, increasing the volume of the labia may also be necessary to achieve a good aesthetic result. For this, autologous fat tissue, i.e., lipofilling, or fillers are used. Everything depends on the patient’s individual wishes and needs.

When is intimate area plastic surgery performed?

Generally, the indication for surgery can be divided into two: we perform the operation either for medical or cosmetic reasons, and sometimes for both.

Cosmetic Reasons

Some examples of situations where a woman might consider labiaplasty for aesthetic reasons:

  • looseness of the labia minora
  • discomfort during sexual intercourse
  • asymmetry of the labia
  • wrinkling of the labia
  • general dissatisfaction with the appearance of one’s intimate area
  • avoidance of sexual relations due to potential negative attention from a partner

Medical Reasons

In addition to the above, there are also some medical reasons for which corrective surgery on the intimate area may be a solution:

  • pain during intercourse due to friction
  • pain when wearing tight clothes
  • inability to cycle or ride horses due to pain
  • avoidance of sexual intercourse due to fear of pain

What is the post-operative result?

The details of the performed operation depend primarily on the extent of the deformation and thus the need for correction. It is crucial to consider the post-operative recovery period, which is why having a realistic understanding is important! This is one of the reasons why it’s essential to come for a consultation and talk to the doctor. We want to be sure that the planned operation meets your expectations and needs. It is also important that you know exactly what awaits you on the day of the operation and after intimate plastic surgery, so there are no surprises when you come for the procedure.

Book a consultation

A consultation is the beginning of every outcome – a place where we make the first important decisions together.

During this process, you will receive a doctor’s assessment, understand your possibilities and limitations, and gain a clear overview of what kind of outcome is realistic. If necessary, this also means making a decision not to intervene, as every decision must be justified.
