Thighplasty is a useful procedure for contouring and tightening the skin of the inner thigh. It can help make the thigh area more aesthetically appealing and proportionate to the buttocks and body. The procedure can be performed with other cosmetic procedures to achieve an overall enhanced appearance.
Who Is a Candidate for Thighplasty?
If you are in good health but have unwanted or excess skin or tissue in the inner thigh area from aging, weight loss, or pregnancy, you may benefit from the procedure. It is not used for weight loss but it is highly effective for people who are not satisfied with how their thighs look. We encourage patients to have realistic expectations for the procedure and discuss achievable results in depth. Please contact Dr. Kullamaa Plastikakirurgia for more information.
What Happens During a Thighplasty?
Thighplasty is sometimes called a thigh lift. An incision will be made in your groin area. Depending on your needs, the incision may extend down and around the back of your thigh. The placement of the incision is such that it can be hidden by a swimsuit.
The location of the incision is determined by the area of the thigh to be lifted. Groin incisions are made for inner thigh lifting. For outer thigh lifting, the longer incision used lifts the thigh and often even the buttocks. Following skillful tightening and contouring of the tissues, the incision is sutured shut.
Recovery Following a Thighplasty
Following your procedure, you will either be released the same day or, for larger lifts, stay overnight before release. You will need to wear a compression garment during recovery and will be given medication and instructions on care. Your results will be immediately visible and improve with time.
After two weeks you can resume light labor. Other activities may be allowed after six weeks. Full recovery takes about six months. Your results can be permanent with proper care and lifestyle choices.
