Breasts have an important role in the mental and physical identity of a woman. Besides a biological function, they play a significant role also as a symbol of beauty and femininity. The appearance of breasts is determined by hereditary factors, breast-feeding, age and composition of mammary glands. Both physical and aesthetical aspects are taken into account, when changing breast shape and size. Breasts are often not of equal size or shape. Several measurements are taken before breast augmentation in order to shape breasts with the size and shape desired by the client. Breasts should look beautiful and natural looking from each side. The aim is to achieve as perfect result as possible. Breast augmentation surgery is performed to adult women.
Plastilise Kirurgia OÜ uses different breast implants, from which you can select the one suitable for you. We use mostly implants made by Nagor (http://www.nagor.com) and Natrelle (http://www.allergan.com) .
How is the surgery performed?
Upon arriving at the hospital, the patient will be directed to a ward. Before the operation the surgeon will tell the patient about the surgery and its expected final result. The surgeon will also draw incision lines on the patient’s skin. At the breast augmentation surgery the incision is made in the breast fold so that the scar will be as inconspicuous as possible. The incision may be made also around the areola or in the armpit. The implant selected by the patient will be inserted through the incision. The incision will be sutured in three layers, the stitches will be removed later from the upper suture. Adhesive tape and gauze bandages will be placed on the incision. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The whole procedure takes one to two hours. After the surgery the patient will wake up under the control of an anesthesiologist and a nurse. The patient will be given painkillers, if necessary. The person will spend the first night after the surgery in hospital, where there is a nurse on duty 24 hours a day. Postoperative pains are normal. These occur in the incision area, they are usually short-term and can be relieved easily by common painkillers. On the first day the breasts are supported by wide bandages, later on there will be only adhesive tapes on the incision. The surgeon will examine the patient on the day after the operation and give recommendations for further care of the breasts and the incision. Stitches will be removed in 7-10 days after the operation. This procedure is quick and painless. The patient has to wear a supporting bra day and night approximately for a month.
After surgery you will have to take a one- to two-week sick leave, depending on the nature of your work. Sick-leave form will be issued by your General Practitioner (Family Doctor). Bodybuilding, aerobics and other sports, which may have an adverse effect on the recovery of the breasts, must be avoided for about a month. Lifting heavy things and strenuous physical work, also visiting a sauna or a solarium must be avoided. Swelling and bruising may occur after the surgery, but this will disappear within about three weeks. It will take up to six months for the incisions to heal.
